A fire and explosion occurred at the ECUA Sanitation Complex on Godwin Lane this afternoon at approximately 2:35PM. ECUA’s first concern is for the safety and wellbeing of our employees. We are relieved and pleased that no one was injured.

ECUA will be replacing the blue garbage cans currently being used in the north end of Escambia County beginning on Tuesday, February 8. The blue cans were a part of the former Allied Waste service area and are ready to be replaced. ECUA crews will change out the blue garbage cans for newer ECUA cans.

ECUA is excited to introduce the Recycle Coach app to its sanitation customers in Escambia County! The Recycle Coach web and mobile app is now available, right at our customers’ fingertips!

ECUA business offices will be closed on Monday, February 15, in observance of the Presidents' Day holiday.

Our community's and employees' safety are our greatest priority. The ECUA has received a report of a person or persons in the area north of Ten Mile Rd. claiming to be contractors hired by ECUA to install energy-saving water meters. This is certainly a scam and an attempt to potentially obtain access to the resident’s home. Incidents such as this can often result in unlawful trespassing and theft.

ECUA crews will begin smoke testing of the sewer collection system lines in the Pen Haven area beginning on Wednesday, January 13, to determine if there are areas where stormwater or groundwater are entering the sewer system. An overload of stormwater into the sewer system can lead to sewer system overflows (SSOs) during periods of intense rain.
