Water Taste & Color Affected in Beulah Area

On Monday, March 27, the ECUA’s Nine Mile Road Well was placed into service after being down for routine maintenance for approximately three months. Within a short time, our staff noticed that the pH of the source water was lower than normal, and subsequently determined that the pH equipment at the well was not sufficiently raising the level of the finished (treated) water to the expected level. As a result, the well was taken offline so that our staff may address the issue with the pH equipment. A reduced pH level can affect the color and taste of the water and ECUA did receive some customer complaints regarding these water characteristics late on Monday and Tuesday morning. Our staff is working quickly to rectify this issue so that the well may be placed back in service.

If customers observe any continued differences in the usual color or taste of their water, they are advised to flush their home’s plumbing by running their taps for a few minutes. If problems persist, customers are asked to contact ECUA Customer Service at 850-476-0480 for assistance.
