Sanitary Sewer Overflow

A Sanitary Sewer Overflow -SSO- occurred on April 8, 2024, on W. Nine Mile Rd. near the I-10 W on-ramp due to a broken Air Release Valve (ARV), which was damaged by a contractor working in the area. The overflow was estimated at 2,000 gallons and was contained onsite. Bacteriological sampling was not required.

ECUA crews replaced the damaged ARV and cleaned the overflow area with a biocide agent that abated any contamination concerns, per State protocol. In accordance with standard operating procedure, the ECUA notified the State Warning Point, the Escambia County Health Department, and the FDEP.
