A Sanitary Sewer Overflow -SSO- occurred on November 25, 2023, in the area of 477 Fort Pickens Road (Manhole #19019181) due to a grease blockage in an eight-inch sewer force main. The overflow was estimated at 150 gallons, of which 50 gallons were recovered and transported to an ECUA water reclamation facility for proper treatment and disposal. The overflow was contained within a gated and locked retention pond and bacteriological sampling was not required.

ECUA crews cleared the blockage and cleaned the overflow area with a biocide agent that abated any contamination concerns, per State protocol. In accordance with standard operating procedure, the ECUA notified the State Warning Point, the Escambia County Health Department, and the FDEP.
