Sanitary Sewer Overflow--RESOLVED

A sanitary sewer overflow occurred Friday, July 10, at 4110 Monteigne Drive after a 24-inch force main broke, causing wastewater to flow into a nearby retention pond. The overflow was estimated at 27,600 gallons. Of that amount, 14,630 gallons were recovered and transported to a wastewater treatment facility.

ECUA crews installed a 24-inch repair clamp on the damaged force main and treated the affected area with a biocide in accordance with state protocol to address potential contamination. Consistent with standard operating procedures, ECUA notified the State Warning Point, the Escambia County Health Department and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection when the overflow occurred.
