Sanitary Sewer Overflow--RESOLVED

A Sanitary Sewer Overflow -SSO- occurred on May 19, 2026 at 3365 E Olive Rd after a contractor working in the area bored through a segment of sewer pipe, which caused a grease blockage and resulted in a manhole overflow. The overflow was estimated at 1,500 gallons. The discharge entered a storm drainage inlet that flows to a locked and gated stormwater retention pond with no outlet to waters of the state.

ECUA crews cleared the blockage which stopped the spill, and cleaned the overflow area with a biocide agent that abated any contamination concerns, per State protocol. In accordance with standard operating procedure, the ECUA notified the State Warning Point, the Escambia County Health Department, and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection at the time of the overflow.
