A sanitary sewer overflow occurred Thursday, May 28, at 1745 E. Nine Mile Rd. due to a broken force main. The overflow was estimated at 6,340 gallons, all of which was recovered by vacuum truck and transported to an ECUA water reclamation facility for proper treatment and disposal.
ECUA crews installed a new 12-inch pipe and two couplings and cleaned the affected area with a biocide agent in accordance with state cleanup protocols. In accordance with standard operating procedures, ECUA notified the State Warning Point, the Escambia County Health Department and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection at the time of the overflow.
