Sanitary Sewer Overflow

A Sanitary Sewer Overflow -SSO- occurred on June 28, 2024, in the vicinity of 9219 Oakcrest Drive due to a broken six-inch sewer force main. The overflow was estimated at 6,000 gallons, of which 5,040 gallons were recovered and transported to an ECUA water reclamation facility for proper treatment and disposal. Bacteriological sampling was initiated on 6/28 and discontinued on 6/30 when all samples returned clear.

ECUA crews repaired the main and cleaned the overflow area with a biocide agent that abated any contamination concerns, per State protocol. In accordance with standard operating procedure, the ECUA notified the State Warning Point, the Escambia County Health Department, and the FDEP.
