Sanitary Sewer Overflow

A Sanitary Sewer Overflow -SSO- occurred on January 17, 2023, at 4585 Baybrook Drive near ECUA Lift Station #58 due to a break in a sixteen-inch sewer force main. The overflow was estimated at 27,000 gallons, of which 26,400 gallons were recovered and transported to an ECUA water reclamation facility for proper treatment. Crews captured and hauled an additional 178,500 gallons in order to facilitate the repair operations and prevent additional overflow. Bacteriological sampling was initiated on January 17, and discontinued on January 19, following the receipt of clear samples at all four sampling locations.

ECUA crews cleaned the overflow area with a biocide agent that abated any contamination concerns, per State protocol. In accordance with standard operating procedure, the ECUA notified State Warning Point, the Escambia County Health Department, and the FDEP.
