Sanitary Sewer Overflow

ECUA was notified of an apparent Sanitary Sewer Overflow -SSO- on January 18, at a manhole (MH #19015075) on Cypress Point W. ECUA's responding crew found the area was dry but contained evidence that an overflow had occurred. After investigation and the return of sampling results, it was determined that the overflow was very brief and estimated at 20 gallons. Bacteriological sampling was initiated at three locations on January 18, and all the results received on January 19 were below reportable levels. This indicates that the SSO did not enter Skinner Mill Creek or Escambia Bay.

ECUA crews cleaned the overflow area with a biocide agent that abated any contamination concerns, per State protocol. In accordance with standard operating procedure, the ECUA notified the Escambia County Health Department and the FDEP.
