Sanitary Sewer Overflow

A Sanitary Sewer Overflow -SSO- occurred on November 28, 2022, in the vicinity of 1100 Ft. Pickens Rd. due to a broken six-inch sewer force main. The overflow was estimated at 17,500 gallons, of which 16,000 gallons were recovered and transported to an ECUA water reclamation facility for proper treatment and disposal. Crews diverted and hauled an additional 8,125 gallons from a nearby lift station to prevent additional overflow. Bacteriological sampling has been initiated.

ECUA crews cleaned the overflow area with a biocide agent that abated any contamination concerns, per State protocol. In accordance with standard operating procedure, the ECUA notified the State Warning Point, the Escambia County Health Department, and the FDEP.
