A Sanitary Sewer Overflow -SSO- occurred on July 26, 2022, near Pompano & E. Kingsfield Road (manhole # 19021706) due to a grease blockage in the sewer main. The overflow was estimated at 1,100 gallons, of which 100 gallons were recovered and transported to an ECUA water reclamation facility for proper treatment and disposal. The discharge was contained on site and bacteriological sampling was not required.

ECUA crews cleared the blockage and cleaned the overflow area with a biocide agent that abated any contamination concerns, per State protocol. In accordance with standard operating procedure, the ECUA notified the State Warning Point, the Escambia County Health Department, and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
