A Sanitary Sewer Overflow -SSO- occurred on March 23 at Sorrento Rd, south of Doug Ford Drive, due to a broken 12-inch sewer force main. The overflow was estimated at 149,400 gallons, with 49,000 gallons diverted to tanker trucks and transported to an ECUA Water Reclamation Facility for proper treatment and disposal. Bacteriological sampling has been initiated.
ECUA crews made a temporary repair to the main at the initial time of the break. A permanent repair has begun and is anticipated to take approximately a week. In accordance with standard operating procedure, the ECUA notified the State Warning Point, the County Health Department and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
